ICYMI: Meijer's $DOGE Plan Increases Stimulus Checks to $2,400 and Saves Taxpayers $1 Trillion

March 10, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Ahead of the House consideration of the partisan $2 trillion budget bill, Rep Meijer has been calling for consideration of his alternative COVID-19 relief plan: $DOGE. The Direct Dollars over Government Excess ($DOGE) plan would increase stimulus checks to $2,400 while saving Americans nearly $1 trillion compared to the Democrat's COVID-19 proposal.

Fox Business with Kennedy

“Every single previous COVID relief stimulus package was overwhelming bipartisan and President Biden, [Majority] Leader Schumer, and Speaker Pelosi took the intentional, most partisan route in order to package this and we are still having small checks and paying a trillion dollars more.”

CNN's The Lead with Jake Tapper

“The American rescue plan that was put forward through the budget reconciliation process flew in the face of all the bipartisan negotiations that had taken place before, and at the end of the day, there is a lot of spending that really can’t be accounted for [and] I think the American people don’t fully appreciate [that the dollars] won’t go towards targeted direct needs.”

The $DOGE plan has been scored by the Center for a Responsible Federal Budget. $DOGE includes all urgent essential funding: vaccines, testing, PPE, school reopening, unemployment insurance, etc.

Background:

Today, the House plans to vote on HR 1319, a nearly $2 trillion partisan budget bill disguised as a COVID-19 relief package. This bill passed the Senate without any Republican support and includes funding for a number of priorities unrelated to the ongoing pandemic, including a multi-employer pension bailout, and fails to include the longstanding and bipartisan pro-life safeguard, the Hyde Amendment.
